Malurus amabilis  

The delightful female Lovely Fairy-wren.

I expected to see this bird often on Cape York but only saw it on two occasions.

This instance was early morning when I was trekking from my campsite at Gordon Creek to the toilets at Cooks Hut. I came across a male and female foraging along the edge of the rainforest.

It pays to carry your camera.
